Top 4 things for National Health Center Week

4 Highlights of National Health Center Week

We celebrated National Health Center Week the second week of August (August 7-13). In case you missed the festivities, here is a recount of 4 highlights that took place.

The Community Fun and Wellness Festival

Countless families attended the Community Fun & Wellness Festival at the Richard Shower’s Recreation Center. Apart from the impressive splash pad located at the recreation center, attendees received a wellness passport to tour the festival. The passport featured slots that were meant to be stamped at the different booths. Once fully stamped, attendee names were turned in for a chance to win all sorts of prizes.

Families were able to get screened for various common health conditions, receive a COVID-19 vaccine, and enjoy the attractions in the “fun zone”. Activities included a petting zoo, a DJ, face painting, food trucks, the splash pad, bounce house infalatables, giveaways, free snows cones to the first 100, free beignets to the first 100, community resources, and games.

The aim of the Community Fun & Wellness Festival was to raise awareness of the health services available to the community, while offering entertainment and health activities.  The festival was a reminder that we are here to care for anyone that needs healthcare. Regardless of insurance level or status, families can get the care they need when they need it.

Healthcare for the Homeless at the Salvation Army

We spent Healthcare for the Homeless Day with our friends at the Salvation Army. In partnership with the Food Bank of North Alabama and Chick-fil-A, we provided lunch, food bags, and care bags to people living in homelessness. Our day at the Salvation Army started with Chick-fil-A lunch, followed by the administration of COVID-19 vaccines and health screenings.

Patient Appreciation Day Giveaways

To celebrate our patients, who are at the heart of what we do, we provided company swag at all Family Health Centers and hosted a Farmer’s Market at New Market Clinic. Despite a downpour of rain, the farmer’s market went on uninterrupted. With only a minor change- it became a drive-thru market. Our staff distributed food, COVID-19 test kits, and company swag to over 100 people.

Staff Appreciation Day Lunch

Our community, along with the rest of the world, has faced hurdles throughout the ongoing pandemic. However, Community Health Centers have continued to serve as the beacon of strength, service, and care in our communities.

As such, Central North Alabama Health Services, Inc. (CNAHSI) employees were thanked with a staff appreciation lunch and prizes. The CNAHSI mission wouldn’t be possible without our caring staff.

National Health Center Week was a blast!

We thank our sponsor SEI Group Inc. We also thank the Richard Shower’s Recreation Center, the Food Bank of North Alabama, and everyone who made this week possible.

At our Family Health Centers, we provide care to people with no insurance and most insurances- including Medicaid and Medicare.  We continue to envision a community where everyone has access to quality healthcare services. We look forward to seeing you next year for National Health Center Week 2023!
