National Health Center Week 2021

This year’s National Health Center Week theme, “The Chemistry for Strong Communities,” focused on the value health centers bring to their community.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life in our community by providing access to quality healthcare services.

About National Health Center Week

Every August, National Health Center Week (a national celebration) raises awareness of the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers.  This year in commemoration of National Health Center Week, we held several celebrations.

The week is always an anticipated time amongst our staff and patients. In case you missed the fun, here is a summary of the events and the wonderful people behind the scenes.

The Week’s Festivities

Support for our Family Health Centers

Throughout the week, public officials joined us with their support.  President Joe Biden, Governor Kay Ivey, and Mayor Tommy Battle joined in on celebrating the week-proclaiming the week as National Health Center Week.

Our staff members celebrated with custom t-shirts and employee lunches. We could not take care of our community without our staff.

Community events

To show gratitude towards our patients, we partnered with the Food Bank of North Alabama and Feeding America to host a Drive-thru Farmer’s Market at Huntsville Family Health Center.  Our team of volunteers loaded and unloaded food boxes and bags, feeding 300 families.  COVID-19 vaccines were also offered on-site to anyone that was not yet vaccinated.

Finally, the weekend took off with loads of fun at our Community Fun & Wellness Festival.  The free event was in partnership with Thrive Alabama and HAPPI Health (other local health centers).  Festivities included food trucks, music, free snow cones, a balloon performer, and giveaways.  The main focus of the event was to provide a day of family fun while raising awareness of the services available to our community. Additionally,  non-profit and educational community partners also joined us on-site, providing information to community resources.

We had so much fun mingling with our community and raising awareness of the services provided through health center programs.

National Health Center Week 2022

If you were unable to make it to this year’s festivities, we encourage you to join us next year for National Health Center Week 2022.
